There is no golden guide, or rule, that tells us what each body needs. There is no substitute for pure drinking water
We drink liquids throughout the day and just assume that they count toward our water intake. That is not the case. When you drink other fluids such as soda, or caffeine, you actually may be working against yourself. There are phosphates in soda that can actually dehydrate your body, which can lead to less hydration, not more. Even though you get some of your fluid from eating, it is always recommended to drink pure water to get the essential nutrients that you need, and to maintain proper hydration for good health.
Tips to get enough water throughout the day
Set a goal
If you want to enjoy the benefits of appropriate hydration you have to commit to the goal of taking in enough water. Making it more convenient will ensure that you will follow through on your commitment.
If you ask anyone if they drank enough, surely they would say they did. Most people are completely unaware of the amount of water that they ingest daily. Instead of just estimating to reach your goals, you need to actually take the time to write down how much you are drinking to ensure that you are consuming enough.
Your body craves what it drinks
At first you may not really enjoy the taste of water, but the body begins to crave what you supply it. After a short while you will begin to notice that not only will you like the taste of water, your body will actually crave the taste of it. If after a while you still don’t like the taste, experiment by adding things such as cucumber or lemon to it.
Bring water on the go
If you always have a bottle of water with you, you are more likely to hydrate when you need to. Carry a BPA free refillable water bottle around so that you can take a sip when you feel like it. If you have to search water out, you are less likely to meet your goal.
Invest in a portable water filter
If you are going to commit to taking in enough water there are going to be long days where getting filtered water may not be as convenient as you think. If you are caught somewhere where only tap water, or drinking fountain water is available, don’t assume it is safe. You aren’t going to be doing your body any favors if you feed it contaminants, that defeats the whole purpose. If you invest in your own portable water filter you can fill it up and have enough fresh water anytime day or night, or especially on the go.
Be persistent and give yourself some time
At first it can really seem arduous to push yourself to drink water. After a while it will become more habit and less work. If you are persistent, and give it a real try, you will soon begin to feel the benefits and then it won’t be difficult anymore it will just become habit. Once you begin to feel better, you want to continue to keep your body hydrated. The benefits of drinking water will make you wonder how your body ran without it.
