But Isn’t Fluoride Good For Me?

We are all told how important fluoride is for our dental health, but what are the consequences of its consumption for the rest of our health? The trust is that fluoride may not be the best thing to consume into our bodies. It is not as harmless as we have been led to believe. There is actually evidence that there are some significant health consequences for the ingestion and exposure to fluoride.

Drinking water has been commanded to contain a specific minimum amount of fluoride which has been set by the United States government. Due to the fact it has been deemed as “cavity fighting” there is reason for many health professionals to begin questioning its safety for consumption and the complications to our health.

The average American is unaware that the water which is supplied to their home contains amounts of fluoride which are dictated by the government. It isn’t as if they have any say in what is being added to their water, or that they are even aware of what it contains. There are dangerous amounts of the fluoride substance that is being mandated to be added to our drinking water supply.

Fluorosis, which is a disorder caused by ingesting too much fluoride, is being reported by the National Academy of Sciences, can occur at just the threshold of 2 parts per million. If you are someone who drinks out of the tap, and uses fluoridated toothpaste, there is no reason to believe that you are at the minimum amount that is likely to be overexposed. Not only are you getting the fluoride in your toothpaste, you are unwittingly ingesting it daily in your drinking water.

Since fluoride works through exposure to the teeth, it makes no sense that the ingestion of it is healthy, or that it is any way aids us from dental carries. It is common sense that having fluoride in our topical toothpaste may be beneficial, but for us to have it in our drinking water, is just not warranted. The truth is that you have great reason for concern about the amount of fluoride you are consuming daily and its overall health consequences.

So what is it that you can do?

The best way to limit exposure in your drinking water is through purchasing a water filter for your tap water. There are many different types of filtration systems that you can buy to filter harmful contaminants, such as fluoride, in your water.

Instead of following blind and believing that fluoride is something that the body needs in drinking water, it is best for your health, and the health of your family, to rid it from your drinking supply. A good water filtration system is your best defense from the unhealthy consequences of fluoride in your drinking water.
